CDC Foods is a national importer and redistributor supporting manufacturers entering and growing within the Canadian market. The Senior Analyst, Pricing & Trade Investment supports the end-to-end pricing lifecycle and trade investment analysis for brands distributed by CDC Foods across Canada.
SCOPE OF THE POSITION
The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for supporting CDC Foods’ purchasing, inventory replenishment, and supplier coordination activities across the national redistribution network. This role ensures timely and accurate execution of purchase orders, inventory availability, and inbound supply coordination in support of CDC Foods’ operational performance and service commitments. The position plays a critical role in day to day supply chain execution, working closely with operations, logistics, customer service, and suppliers to maintain inventory integrity, service levels, and cost controls.
Purchasing & Inventory Coordination
• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders in accordance with approved forecasts, inventory targets, and customer demand.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities to support uninterrupted supply and service continuity.
• Track open purchase orders, confirm delivery dates, and proactively follow up with suppliers on delays, shortages, or changes.
• Coordinate inbound shipments with suppliers, warehouses, and logistics partners to ensure accurate and timely receipt of goods.
• Evaluates inventory levels to maintain optimal min/max weeks on hand to ensure customer service levels are met minimizing working-capital investment
Supplier Coordination & Compliance Support
• Maintain accurate supplier records, product specifications, and purchasing documentation.
• Assist in collecting and reviewing supplier documentation related to product specifications, shelf life, labeling, and food safety requirements.
• Support supplier communication related to forecasts, availability, lead times, and order confirmations.
• Escalate supplier performance, quality, or delivery issues to the Operations & Logistics Manager as required.
Operational & Cross Functional Support
• Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to support receiving accuracy, inventory reconciliation, and issue resolution.
• Support supply reviews and contribute purchasing and inventory data to Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) discussions.
• Prepare and maintain purchasing reports related to inventory levels, open orders, and supply risks.
• Maintain organized purchasing files and records in accordance with CDC Foods’ policies and audit requirements.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
• Maintain high purchase order accuracy across item, quantity, pricing, and delivery dates.
• Execute on time purchasing and follow up to meet required lead times and service needs.
• Improve supplier performance through on time delivery tracking and proactive issue escalation.
• Protect service levels by minimizing stockouts, expedites, and aged open purchase orders.
• Ensure data and compliance integrity across costing updates, specifications, and required documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Post secondary education in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in a purchasing, inventory coordination, or supply chain support role; food distribution or CPG experience is an asset.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in order management and data entry.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP or inventory management systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
In office role with regular interaction with internal operations teams, warehouses, and external suppliers. May require flexibility to support inbound shipments, inventory cycles, or operational priorities. Commitment to workplace safety, food safety, and compliance standards.
