Position Summary
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records across Affinity Group's Food Service and Retail divisions. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this role handles day-to-day bookkeeping functions, supports month-end close, and ensures that financial data is organized, reconciled, and ready for reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-moving sales and brokerage environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Receivable
• Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and check requests accurately and on time.
• Record and apply customer payments; follow up on outstanding receivables.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies with internal teams and external partners.
General Ledger & Month-End Close
• Maintain the general ledger; post journal entries weekly.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Support the month-end and year-end close process by preparing schedules and variance analyses.
Payroll & Expense Support
• Assist with payroll processing and reconciliation.
• Review and process employee expense reports in accordance with company policy.
Cross-Divisional Coordination
• Maintain accurate records for both the Food Service and Retail divisions, keeping accounts properly coded and segmented.
• Work closely with the sales, operations, and brokerage teams to resolve coding questions and support vendor or customer inquiries.
Qualifications
Required
• 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online) or similar accounting software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas).
• Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
• High attention to detail and accuracy; ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
Preferred
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Experience with food brokerage, distributor, or multi-division accounting environments.
