BROAD FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: The Director of Total Rewards at Affinity Group is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the company’s global total rewards programs. This position ensures that the total rewards strategy aligns with the organization’s culture, business objectives, and growth trajectory, while remaining competitive and compliant with all regulatory requirements and company policies. Additionally, this role ensures consistent administration of all compensation and benefits programs. Reporting to the VP of HR, this new leadership position at Affinity Group plays a key part in supporting the company’s efforts to attract, retain, and motivate top talent, contributing to the ongoing success of the business.

- Collaborate with business stakeholders to design and execute a competitive, end-to-end Total Rewards strategy and program that aligns with Company’s overall talent agenda that attracts, retains and motivates top talent.
- Work closely with partners in Finance to optimize value, reduce risk, evaluate options, and make recommendations to the Benefits committee and Board to ensure financial sustainability of Total Rewards programs.
- Act as a trusted advisor to executives and managers on compensation and benefits matters, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner with HR colleagues to ensure alignment between strategies throughout the employee lifecycle such as talent acquisition, employee engagement, employee recognition, wellbeing, etc.
- Develop and implement metrics to measure the effectiveness of compensation and benefit programs in driving business outcomes and talent retention.
- Formulate policies and procedures related to compensation and benefits that are clear, concise, and easily understood by all team members.
- Foster a culture of transparency and trust by effectively communicating the value of total rewards to employees.
- Prepare and distribute written and verbal information to educate and excite team members regarding benefits and compensation
- Stay appraised of government policies and regulations and update information and practices as required and ensure ongoing compliance with all appliable regulations.
- Lead the consolidation of benefits in 2026, with multiple plans and ownership. Educate employees on benefit offerings during open enrollment and build out material for onboarding.
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the company’s 401(k) retirement plan, ensuring compliance with ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations.
- Partner with external vendors and advisors to evaluate plan design, investment performance, and employee participation strategies.
- Lead annual 401(k) plan reviews, audits, and nondiscrimination testing, ensuring accuracy and fiduciary responsibility.
- Drive initiatives to increase employee engagement and understanding of retirement benefits.
- Evaluate existing benefits offerings to identify gaps and opportunities for enhancement and cost savings.
- Research and recommend innovative benefit programs to support employee well-being, engagement, and retention.
- Partner with benefits vendors and brokers to optimize program costs and services.
- Ensure benefits plans comply with legal requirements, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other regulatory mandates.
- Oversee benefits communication, ensuring employees understand and maximize available offerings.
- Manage 5500 filings, audits, and benefits-related reporting requirements.
- Serve as a key member and advisor to the Benefits Committee, providing data-driven insights and recommendations on benefit plan performance, design, and compliance.
- Prepare and present analysis, benchmarking, and plan updates to the Benefits Committee for strategic decision-making.
- Manage, review and direct all compensation programs, including but not limited to job evaluation, job classification, salary structures and job architecture.
- Conduct regular benchmarking and market analysis to ensure competitive salary structures.
- Manage the annual compensation review process, including salary adjustments and incentive programs.
- Design and administer incentive programs, including performance-based, equity compensation, and recognition programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, accounting, finance, or related field. Masters preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Total Rewards, with at least 2 years of people leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of compensation practices, job evaluation methodologies, and benefits administration.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations, including FLSA, ACA, ERISA, and pay equity laws.
- Strong project management skills to lead and implement total rewards initiatives, such as annual compensation reviews, benefits program updates, or system implementations.
- Ideally, have experience leading former employers through the transition to self-funding a health plan.
- Ability to analyze compensation data and provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
- Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Experience with HRIS systems, particularly with compensation and benefits modules.
- Large and small group presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certifications desired.

Working Conditions
- Occasional business travel (less than 15%).
- Typical office hours Monday through Friday (8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.)
- Exposure to matrixed organizational structure, with fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
